My name is Kate Csák, and I'm a realist artist working in coloured pencil from my home studio in Kingsville, Ontario — usually with a rescue cat or two close by.
My portraits don't just resemble their subjects. They invite you closer — to really look, and to feel the weight of what that face has meant to you. A moment of stillness. A chance to see someone you love clearly, maybe in a way you never quite have before.
Over twenty years of drawing have shaped every choice I make. The layering of color, the movement of the pencil, the touch that is unmistakably mine. Faithful to your subject, but alive with something more. Something that stirs empathy. Something that holds memory.
The ones we love shape the stories of our lives. These portraits exist so those stories aren't forgotten.
Only a small number of commissions are accepted each year, because every portrait deserves full attention and genuine care.

"Seeing the drawing in person brought me to tears — you've captured every single detail of my girl, every wild fur and cowlick. I've spent hours just staring at it, completely speechless and blown away."
